    Falcons Over Jets 13-8

The New York Jets dropped their fifth game in a row on Sunday, losing to the Atlanta Falcons 13-8. In rainy conditions, the Jets failed to get their offense going, benched their quarterback, lost multiple players to injury and were called for multiple costly penalties.

Falcon backup tight end MyCole Pruitt scored the game’s only touchdown in the second quarter as the Jets frustratingly trailed by one score for the last 40 minutes but could never recapture the lead. In an effort to spark the offense, the Jets benched quarterback Tim Boyle for Trevor Siemian, but still weren’t able to put together a scoring drive when they needed to.

The Jets, who led 2-0 after the first quarter following a safety, got the ball back with under two minutes remaining and down by 13-8 but their  last-ditch drive stalled near midfield.

With the offensive line about as healthy as it’s ever going to get and both Boyle and Siemian unable to get anything going, it’s unclear where the Jets go from here. Could they opt to go back to Zach Wilson?

  • Giants Defeat Patriots

    Giants Defeat Patriots

The New York Giants beat the New England Patriots 10-7 on Sunday. The Giants rise to 4-8 and are officially on a winning streak.

Patriots’ placekicker Chad Ryland missed a 35-yard field goal attempt with :06 remaining that wold have forced overtime.

It was a cold, rainy afternoon in East Rutherford N.J., and a far cry from the classic games between the Giants and Patriots we all remember. This was a plodding and often ugly affair that could generously be called a “defensive struggle” that ultimately ended on a missed field goal as time expired.

In such a game it often comes down to which team makes the most mistakes, and in this case that was definitely the Patriots.

Giants QB Tommy DeVito was 17 0f 25 for 191 yards. Saquon Barkley had 12 carries for 46 yards.

Mac Jones started at QB for the Patriots and was replaced by Bailey Zappe, both could not get anything going.

The Giants will face the Green Bay Packers (5-6) in Week 14.

  • Dolphins Dominate Jets 34-13

    Dolphins Dominate Jets 34-13

In the New York Jets’ 11th game of the 2023 NFL season, in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on a cool and sunny afternoon, the Jets were blown out by the Miami Dolphins, 34 – 13.

The first half saw the Jets offense put up just 54 yards of offense and zero points on the way to a 17 – 6 deficit. The Jets defense held the high octane Dolphins offense to 10 points, picked off Tua Tagovailoa twice, and still the Jets trailed by double digits at the half.

To add insult to injury, the Jets offense gave up a 99 yard pick six to the Dolphins on a Tim Boyle Hail Mary pass as time expired in the half.

The Jets offense had barely even moved the ball forward all game. The Dolphins opened the fourth quarter and quickly put up a touchdown. The rest was just garbage time.

The Jets controlled the ball on offense for the large majority of the fourth quarter, but they were unable to score until there was less than five minutes left in the game. Tim Boyle threw to Garrett Wilson for a touchdown but it was far too little, far too late. The Dolphins tacked on a late touchdown to make the final score Dolphins 34, Jets 13.

With the loss the Jets fall to 4-7 on the season. Now the Jets have nine days to prepare for a home game against the Atlanta Falcons.

  • WNBA Las Vegas Aces Get New Team Investor

WNBA Las Vegas Aces Get New Team Investor

Retired NFL quarterback Tom Brady has acquired an ownership interest in the defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces, the team announced.

“I am very excited to be part of the Las Vegas Aces organization,” Brady said. “My love for women’s sports began at a young age when I would tag along to all my older sisters’ games—They were by far the best athletes in our house! We celebrated their accomplishments together as a family, and they remain a great inspiration to me.”

The Aces, formerly the San Antonio Stars, relocated to Las Vegas in 2018 and were purchased by Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis prior to the 2021 season.

“I have always been a huge fan of women’s sports, and I admire the work that the Aces’ players, staff, and the WNBA continue to do to grow the sport and empower future generations of athletes. To be able to contribute in any way to that mission as a member of the Aces organization is an incredible honor.”

  • Bills Rout Jets 32-6

    Bills Rout Jets 32-6

The New York Jets scored their first touchdown in 13 quarters on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, but any additional highlights were few and far between.

The Jets fell behind early and dropped a 32-6 decision on the road in Orchard Park. The offense netted only 155 yards and starting quarterback Zach Wilson was yanked late in the third quarter in favor of backup Tim Boyle.

“I don’t think anyone did anything today: Players, coaches, schemes. It was obviously not good enough. None of it was good enough,” said Jets’ third-year head coach Robert Saleh.

Prior to the benching, Wilson went 7-of-15 passing for 81 yards. He suffered five sacks.

Boyle wasn’t any more effective than Wilson, totaling 33 pass yards on 14 attempts. As a team, including an 18-yard completion by punter Thomas Morstead, the Jets averaged 4.4 yards per pass for the game. Gang Green was successful on 0 of 11 third down attempts.

  • Giants Beat Commanders 31-19

    Giants Beat Commanders 31-19

Tommy DeVito slung the ball over the field, including three touchdown tosses and a host of big-time throws. What made his performance that much more impressive was the fact that DeVito was sacked nine times. Still, the 6-foot-2, 209-pound quarterback shook off the blows to post one of the most effective performances by a Giants passer this season.

The Giants utilized Saquon Barkley in the passing game more than they’ve done all season, with strong results. The running back caught four balls for 57 yards and two scores.

For Washington, Sam Howell went 31-for-45 for 245 yards with a passing score, a rushing touchdown, three interceptions, and a 62.7 passer rating.

The Giants are now 3-8. Washington is 4-7.

Joe Burrow Shatters Mark For NFL’s Highest-Paid

Joe Burrow has been all the Cincinnati Bengals hoped for when they selected the quarterback No. 1 overall in the 2020 NFL draft.

The Cincinnati Bengals and quarterback Joe Burrow have agreed on a new five-year, $275 million deal, which will make him the highest-paid player in NFL history.

Burrow was entering the final guaranteed year of his rookie contract. Many spectated Burrow would be in line for a record-setting deal with the quarterback pay scale having increased from Jalen Hurts‘ then-record-setting extension with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Burrow has met lofty expectations during his first three seasons, leading the Bengals to postseason berths in each of the past two seasons, which included snapping a 15-year playoff drought during the team’s AFC championship season in 2021 and a combined 22-10 record in his past 32 regular-season starts. The former Heisman Trophy winner has thrown for 11,774 yards, 82 touchdowns and 31 interceptions on 1,044 of 1,530 passing attempts during his three-year NFL career, which includes 4,475 yards, 35 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 414 of 606 passing in 2022.
