Jets QB Aaron Rodgers Ready!

“If I don’t do what I know I’m capable of doing, we’re all probably going to be out of here,” Rodgers told the Jets media in May.

Rodgers immediately backtracked after he said that, saying he liked that pressure and that’s just how the NFL is every year. His comment was a precise setup for the Jets’ season. If it doesn’t go as planned, it seems highly unlikely New York would try the same formula in 2025.

The good news is the Jets are set up well to have a huge season. No team should be happy with 7-10 records in back-to-back years, but given how bad New York’s quarterback play was the past two seasons it was a notable accomplishment. The Jets are loaded. All they need is decent quarterback play. That was the story when they traded for Rodgers a year ago. It’s still the story after Rodgers’ injury ruined last season.

Mets Offense Falters vs Mariners

New York (61-56) began the day 0.5 games ahead of Atlanta for the final Wild Card spot, but the Braves snapped their six-game losing streak and are now 0.5 games up on the Mets.

New York’s bats struggled against Mariners starter Logan Gilbert all night long. Francisco Lindor opened the game with a single, but Gilbert then retired the next eight straight Mets through the third.

Gilbert made it nine in a row when Lindor lined out to open the fourth before Brandon Nimmo walked to give NY their second baserunner of the night. J.D. Martinez and Pete Alonso couldn’t make anything happen and the Mets’ scoreless stretch continued.

Yankees and Rangers Split Doubleheader

Corey Seager hit a three-run homer to cap a five-run sixth inning as the visiting Texas Rangers capitalized on Gerrit Cole’s departure and beat the New York Yankees 9-4 to salvage the second game of a doubleheader Saturday.

New York won the opener 8-0 behind four RBIs from Austin Wells, but the latter game turned significantly for the Rangers after Cole was lifted following the first out of the sixth inning at 90 pitches with the score tied 1-1.

In the span of about six and a half hours, the Yankees showed flashes of the peak of their powers, a team that could out-talent others all the way to the World Series.

And flashes of what could go wrong along the way for a club that still has holes.

An 8-0 win backed by Austin Wells, Aaron Judge and Carlos Rodon, followed by an ugly 9-4 loss to the Rangers that included a five-run, sixth-inning implosion, amounted to a doubleheader split in front of 41,996 in The Bronx for the Yankees (69-49), who have won nine of 13 and generally righted themselves after a lengthy malaise.

Cody Rhodes Retains WWE Title

After a back and forth start, Cody caught him with a spring board drop kick followed by an outside dive. Back in the ring, Solo took over and the beat down began. Cody caught him with a Cody cutter and then tossed him to the floor.

Back in the ring, Cody connected with a flurry of right hands. Cody hit Solo with the steel steps a few times. Jacob Fatu ran out and attacked Cody. Roman Reigns made his return and hit the superman punch to Solo then the spear before leaving the ring. Cody with the cross rhodes for the win.
