The final Associated Press Top 25 College Football Poll for the 2024 season was released hours after the Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 34-23, in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Four Big Ten teams — No. 1 Ohio State, No. 3 Oregon, No. 5 Penn State and No. 10 Indiana — finished in the top 10 while three SEC teams — No. 4 Texas, No. 6 Georgia and No. 9 Tennessee — were included.

The Washington Commanders finished tied for the second-worst record in the NFL last season. They had been a laughingstock for more than 20  years. Getting the No. 2 pick of the NFL Draft, which became Jayden Daniels, provided hope.

It was hoped that things could be better in a few years. Not hope that as a rookie Daniels would lead the Commanders to their first NFC championship game in 33 years.

The Commanders pulled off one of the biggest upsets in divisional-round history, beating the Detroit Lions 45-31 to advance to the NFC championship game while delivering Detroit one of the most crushing losses in recent memory.

Detroit, which went 15-2 in the regular season and needed to win just two home games to make the first Super Bowl in franchise history, is out. The Commanders are moving onto the NFC title game for the first time since the end of the 1991 season. They’ll face either the Philadelphia Eagles or Los Angeles Rams on the road.

Washington hadn’t even won a playoff game since the end of the 2005 postseason, now the Commanders have won two this postseason.

WWE, part of TKO Group Holdings, Inc., and Netflix, announced a long-term partnership that will bring WWE’s flagship weekly program – Raw – to the world’s leading entertainment service. 

Beginning in January 2025, Netflix will be the exclusive new home of Raw in the U.S., Canada, U.K. and Latin America, among other territories, with additional countries and regions to be added over time.

With 1,600 episodes to date, Raw is the most iconic show in sports entertainment. Since its debut in 1993, Raw has delivered action, compelling drama and unmatched athleticism – 52 weeks a year. The three-hour show has helped launch the careers of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Triple H, John Cena, Roman Reigns, Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair. 

The show is currently the No. 1 show on USA Network, where it brings in 17.5 million unique viewers over the course of the year. It is one of television’s best performing shows in the 18-49 advertising demographic. On social media, WWE has more than one billion followers across its platforms.

What goes on a patty melt? Traditionally, the sandwich is made with rye bread, a burger patty, Swiss cheese, and fried onions. According to the Five Guys website, the Patty Melt features “a burger patty in between slices of American-style cheese melted on a toasted, inside-out sesame seed bun with toppings of your choice.”  

At the end of a whirlwind year that saw her transform from a viral star to a business mogul, Haliey Welch, also known as the “Hawk Tuah Girl,” is facing backlash for promoting a memecoin that crashed.

Welch announced that $HAWK had gone live. About two weeks later, her investors, who lost a combined $151,000, filed a lawsuit against the memecoin’s sellers, alleging that they unlawfully sold securities that hadn’t been registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Welch posted a statement on X saying she is “committed to assisting the legal team representing individuals impacted.”

Welch had her breakout moment in June, when she was approached on the street by content creator DeArius Marlow to name “one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time.”

“You gotta give ’em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang,” Welch replied. It became a viral phrase shared millions of times over the following weeks.
