The San Francisco 49ers fought their way to another victory, beating the New York Giants 34-24 on the road to improve to 6-3 and remain firmly in the NFC West race.

San Francisco came in with depth concerns along the defensive line and without Brock Purdy once again. And things looked on edge early, as the Giants had an early 10-play, 64-yard touchdown drive. That marked the second straight game the 49ers defense gave up an opening drive touchdown after not having one for the entire season before that.

But, the 49ers recovered after that with a strong start from Mac Jones, taking a 17-7 halftime lead before cruising in the second half en route to a blowout victory.

Christian McCaffrey eclipsed 100 yards rushing for the second time this season, while totaling over 170 yards and two touchdowns on the day.

Prada Group has agreed to purchase Versace from Capri Holdings in a deal valued at $1.4 billion. The acquisition will be financed through $1.6 billion in new debt, following more than $1 billion already borrowed by Prada. The boards of both companies have approved the transaction.

“Versace will maintain its creative DNA and cultural authenticity, while benefiting from the full strength of the Group’s considerable consolidated platform, retail execution and operational expertise,’’ Prada said in a statement.

Donatella Versace, who served as Versace’s chief creative officer for nearly 30 years, stepped down last month, which influenced the negotiations. The luxury brand, founded in 1978 by Gianni Versace, was acquired by Capri Holdings (formerly Michael Kors) for $2.1 billion in 2018. This latest acquisition marks a significant shift in the luxury fashion industry, as Prada expands its influence and market share.

“We aim to continue Versace’s legacy, celebrating and re-interpreting its bold and timeless aesthetic,” said a spokesperson.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series champions for the second consecutive year.

Miguel Rojas tied Game 7 in the top of the ninth inning, and both Rojas and Andy Pages made clutch defensive plays in the bottom half to keep the Dodgers alive.

Los Angeles defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in seven games, silencing the Rogers Centre crowd and capturing back-to-back titles.

Manager Dave Roberts used six pitchers in the deciding game, including Game 6 starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Game 5 starter Blake Snell.

Ultimately, it was catcher Will Smith who delivered the biggest hit of the night. Smith’s solo home run in the top of the 11th inning gave the Dodgers their first lead, 5-4. Yamamoto then closed things out in the bottom of the inning, earning the victory for Los Angeles.

Despite throwing 96 pitches just one day earlier, Yamamoto came out of the bullpen to record the final 2 2/3 innings. He escaped a tense jam with runners on first and third by inducing Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk into a game-ending double play.

The Philadelphia Eagles dominated their NFC East rematch on Sunday afternoon, defeating the New York Giants 38–20 at Lincoln Financial Field in a game defined by explosive plays and a devastating injury to Giants’ rookie running back Cam Skattebo.

Philadelphia wasted no time seizing control. On just the second snap of the game, Saquon Barkley broke free for a 65-yard touchdown run, his first run of over 20 yards this season to give the Eagles an early 7–0 lead. New York answered with an 18-yard score from Skattebo.

Moments later, Barkley added a second touchdown this time on a 9-yard reception from Jalen Hurts to put Philadelphia back in front. But the mood quickly shifted when Skattebo suffered a gruesome ankle injury on a short reception late in the half.

Hurts finished an efficient 15 of 20 for 179 yards and four touchdowns, spreading the ball to five different receivers. Barkley was unstoppable, totaling 150 rushing yards and 24 receiving yards with two total scores.

Dart was sacked five times and limited to 136 passing yards with one late rushing touchdown. Their run game mustered just 60 total yards without Skattebo, and New York’s depleted secondary couldn’t contain DeVonta Smith, who led all receivers with 84 yards.

Philadelphia improves to 6–2 and maintains its spot atop the NFC East standings. The Giants fall to 2-6.
